Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026.

1. What CheckYourPlace is

CheckYourPlace is a community platform where tenants can share their experiences about buildings they've lived in. Content is user-generated and moderated before publication.

2. Account and access

Browsing technical information and scores is free. An account is required to submit a review. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

3. What you can post

You can describe observable conditions about a building: noise, insulation, upkeep, management, pests, and the surrounding area. You may not post information about identifiable people, apartment numbers, unverifiable accusations, or illegal content.

4. Moderation

We reserve the right to reject or hide reviews that violate the rules in our Review Policy. You'll get the reason for rejection and can submit a corrected version.

5. Liability

Information on the platform is for guidance only. CheckYourPlace does not guarantee the full accuracy of every review or technical data point, and is not responsible for decisions made solely based on this content. Always verify a building in person before moving.

6. Payments, access, and right of withdrawal

Paid access (the 30-day pass and the annual Professional subscription) grants immediate access to digital content: the full report for an address and unlocked reviews. Delivery begins as soon as payment is confirmed, and the content becomes available instantly.

By completing a payment, you expressly request immediate delivery of the digital content and acknowledge that you waive the legal right of withdrawal for digital content delivered on a non-physical medium. As a result, amounts paid are non-refundable once access has been granted.

The annual subscription can be canceled anytime from your account: it will not renew, and access stays active until the end of the period already paid for. Technical issues, such as a duplicate charge or access not granted after a successful payment, are fixed promptly; reach us through the contact page.

7. Your account, your data

You can delete your account anytime from your account settings. Approved reviews remain public for the community, shown under the display name you chose or as "Anonymous," so a building's history isn't distorted.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We post the last-updated date at the top of this page.
