Review Policy

How we decide what gets published and what doesn't.

What we publish

  • Observable conditions about a building: noise, sound and thermal insulation, dampness, pests, management, cleanliness.
  • Useful details about the area and access.
  • General apartment positions: ground floor, mid-level floor, top floor, street-facing or courtyard-facing.

What we don't publish

  • Names, photos, or descriptions of neighbors, the property manager, or other identifiable people.
  • The apartment number or any detail that identifies an individual unit.
  • Unfounded accusations, insults, or discriminatory speech.
  • Commercial content, promotion, or self-promotion of real estate services.

How moderation works

  • Every review goes through moderation before it's published.
  • Moderation checks compliance with this policy, not the factual accuracy of the experience described. Reviews remain the personal opinions and experiences of their authors.
  • Redaction for data protection: if a review contains personal data (names, apartment numbers, contact info), those parts may be replaced with neutral placeholders (e.g. "xx") without changing the substance of the experience. The review then shows a small "Partially edited for data protection" note.
  • If we reject a review, you get the reason and can submit a corrected version.
  • Developers or property owners cannot buy scores and cannot request the removal of an approved review. They may request a correction of a factual error, and the request is evaluated transparently.

Author and anonymity

Reviews appear publicly under the display name you choose at publication, or as "Anonymous" if you prefer. Your email and account identity are never visible publicly. The moderation team sees the internal author only during the moderation process, strictly to prevent abuse.

Deletion and editing

You can request that your own review be edited or deleted by writing to hello@checkyourplace.com. When you delete your account, approved reviews remain public for the community but are disconnected from your identity.
