We propose drilling three (3), seven-inch diameter geotechnical test borings (b-1 to b-3) using the hollow stem auger method to evaluate the subsurface conditions. the proposed test boring depths will be drilled to 40 feet. if a confining unit is encountered, outer casing will be installed which will extend 10 feet into the top of the confining unit or to the top of bedrock. upon completion, the geotechnical test borings will be backfilled with grout to the existing ground surface. the boreholes will be tremie-grouted in one continuous operation with a positive displacement pump using a bentonite slurry mix (at least 2 pounds bentonite powder to 1 gallon of water) from the bottom of the borehole upward. drilling spoils, including soils and water from the test borings will be containerized in 55-gallon drums to be removed for disposal after chemical laboratory results of the spoils have been received and reviewed. spoils will be disposed of in accordance with federal and district laws and regulations.

What's worth checking in person before deciding.
- Test water pressure and temperature at the tap, in the bathroom and kitchen, for at least a minute.
- Ask for the latest maintenance bill from a winter month, not a summer one: that's where the real cost of living there shows up.
- Schedule a viewing on a weekday too, between 6:00 and 7:30 PM, the window when the building is busiest: neighbors, parking, elevator.
- Ask specifically where you'd park: is there paid city parking, who currently holds it, what the permit costs, and how long the waitlist is.
- Look at the stairwell (cleanliness, smell) and the association's notice board: unpaid dues, conflicts, recent decisions.
- Knock on a neighboring door and ask two things: what bothers them most often, and what work is planned for the building.
Neighborhood recommendations are derived from public OpenStreetMap data and may be incomplete. Checking in person is still what matters most.
